    Spanish Trade Mission Visits Saudi Arabia in April
     
     


    A high-level Spanish trade delegation comprising leading companies in the construction sector will be visiting Saudi Arabia early April this year. This was disclosed by Mr. Alberto Soler Vera, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Spanish Embassy in Riyadh during hisvisit to Asharqia Chamber on Monday 28 February,2011.

    The Spanish diplomat  met with the Chamber Acting Secretary General, Mr. Abdulrahman A. Al Wabel   and discussed ways and means to improve trade relations between the two countries. Mr. Vera said Spanish companies have world-class technology and know-how particularly in the fields of construction and railways to offer to the Kingdom. "Spanish companies are keen to build partnerships with their Saudi counterparts in order to set up joint venture projects," he added.

     
    There are enormous investment opportunities in the Eastern Province, noted   Mr. Al Wabel pointing to the mega projects coming up in the newly built  Jubail Second Industrial City  and the Dammam Second Industrial Estate. He also mentioned huge mining investment projects undertaken in the region's Ras Azzour Mineral Zone.

    Mr. Al Wabel highlighted activities of Asharqia Chamber which has currently over 42,000 members. He offered all kinds of possible cooperation to the Spanish companies interested in entering the Saudi market. "The Chamber is willing to provide a platform to bring companies of both countries together," he said.
     
    Trade exchanges between Saudi Arabia and Spain have increased significantly in recent years. In 2010, Saudi imports from Spain rose to over 1.0 billion Euro as against 800 million Euro in the previous year. Meanwhile, Saudi exports to Spain jumped from 2.4 billion Euro in 2009 to around 3.0 billion Euro in 2010.
